Surrey Eagles forwards Evan Brown and Zachary Wagnon and West Kelowna Warriors goaltender Rorke Applebee have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.

1st Star – Evan Brown (F) – Surrey Eagles

Brown totaled five points in two games over the weekend, scoring three goals and chipping in with a pair of helpers.

The 20-year-old had a career-best four-point outing on Friday night in Surrey’s home game against the Nanaimo Clippers. Brown picked up an assist in the first period, a goal in the middle frame and finished off with another goal and an assist in the third in a 10-6 Eagles victory.

On Sunday afternoon, the Little Silver, N.J. product scored the game-winning goal in the third period of Surrey’s come-from-behind road win over the Langley Rivermen. With his team down 3-2 at the second intermission, Brown’s marker midway through the final stanza stood up as the winner in a 5-3 Eagles win.

Since being acquired by Surrey in February, Brown’s game has hit a new level as he has piled up 20 points in 17 games since the trade. Prior to that, he had 19 points in 37 contests with the Cranbrook Bucks and the Coquitlam Express.

2nd Star – Zachary Wagnon (F) – Surrey Eagles

Wagnon led all BCHL players with six points in two games last week on a goal and five assists.

The Yale University commit also had a career night on Friday in Surrey’s 10-6 win over the Nanaimo Clippers. Wagnon totaled five points for the first time in the BCHL and was named first star of the game. The 20-year-old collected two assists in the first period, scored a goal of his own and added another helper in the second, then added one more assist for good measure in the third.

On Sunday afternoon, Wagnon assisted on the Eagles fifth and final goal in their 5-3 win over the Langley Rivermen.

The Red Bank, N.J. native is Surrey’s fourth leading scorer this season with 40 points in 48 games.

3rd Star – Rorke Applebee (G) – West Kelowna Warriors

Applebee won both of his starts over the weekend, stopping a combined 55 shots on 57 attempts on goal, finishing the week with a .965 save percentage and a 1.00 goal-against average.

The 20-year-old Lake Superior State University commit stopped 26 of 27 shots in Friday’s 3-1 road win over the Trail Smoke Eaters, including 13 saves in the first period alone. On Saturday, Applebee stopped all but one of the 30 shots he faced to earn his second straight victory, a 4-1 triumph over the Cranbrook Bucks. He was named the first star of the game.

The Châteauguay, Que. product has a goals-against average of 2.62 this season, which is good enough for fifth among his BCHL peers. He also has the second most wins with 23 and his three shutouts are tied for third in the BCHL.
